It’s good to have goals no matter what stage you are in career wise - For example, while I’ve done many different speaking engagements over the years, I’m very honored to have just completed my first international talk. Believe it or not, public speaking doesn’t come naturally to me, now add to the fact that I’m speaking at the largest security conference in Latin America where the the overwhelming majority of the room are Spanish speakers, and the pressure intensified. Oh, did I mention that right before me was the Minister Counselor for Diplomatic Security with the US Embassy? Pressure intensified. My solution? Exhale, trust my knowledge of the subject matter, and just talk with the intent of sharing, not impressing.
